It's the most wondeful time of the year...

Christmas?  No.  We're nearly to the beginning of baseball season.  I am my father's daughter, and no matter how many people disparage the great game of baseball, I still get excited.  Do I want to play baseball?  Hells no.  I am no fool, and small objects flying at my head are cause to flee.  But do I want to watch the Red Sox whoop some tail this season?  Youbetcha.

While being Russ's daughter does mean an unfortunate draw towards football, I will try to raise her right.  Wooden bats--no aluminum crap.  Afternoon games in the sun.  Hot dogs. Singing during the seventh-inning stretch (to Sweet Caroline, if you're lucky). And patience.  Baseball is finesse.

Here she is with her Baseball Snoopy, which I bought when I was three weeks pregnant.  Some things, you don't mess around with.

He plays "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" when you press his glove, and she got so excited when this happened that she gave Snoopy a big kiss!

And here she is chewing on her AWESOME Red Sox snack cups.  Gracias, Grandpapi!  Play ball!

GAH! GAH!

So tonight, while taking her ritual Sunday night bath, Vivi managed to make a very large poo. In the tub. Titanic-sized panic ensued.  She laughed her head off, while Russ and I tired to simultaneously a) get her out of the tub, b) wrangle "the offender", c) empty the tub, and d) re-wash Madame Poo-Water.

Is this what it means to be a parent?

In honor of our watery trauma, I am posting some lovely photos of Vivi swimming in the hotel pool from our trip last week (a feces-free incident, by the way).

So happy to swim with Dad!

And chillin' with Grandma Otto...

Oh, Ames

So this past weekend, we went to Ames to celebrate the birthdays of a bunch of our friends.  Somehow, 9/10ths of their group managed to be born within two days of each other.  Weird.
At any rate, clan Grooters was kind enough to take us in for the weekend.  Vivi spent some time making friends with their little guy, Kyler, who is almost three.

here, Kyler shows off his mad piano skills, and Vivi is most impressed.

"I prefer the key of F."

Vivi has a new buddy!

Sportin' Colors

You know it had to happen at some point.

Vivi is a Hawkeye fan, just like her daddy.

Just wait...the cheerleader outfits will be here in the fall!

Cousin Time!

This weekend has been a very good time.  All of Vivi's cousins came to town to celebrate the birthday trifecta--Grandpapi, Uncle Joe, and Noah all had birthdays this week!  Last night we had dinner at my parents to celebrate.  While everyone else was eating, Eva came and asked me if "tiny baby Vivi" could sit with her, promising that she would "be very soft with her."  How could I turn down that request?

It was too cute!

"What have you there?"

"Eva, I said to hold all my calls."

And my personal favorite?

Snarky cousins.  So over this photo session.
