Check out my grill, yo!

Vivi's second tooth showed up last Friday!  I was overcome by exhaustion due to a wretched week, so I am just getting around to blogging about it.  But it is very exciting.  And man, did she work hard to get that sucker through!  (Too much Twilight, Vivi?)

But it's official.  Viv has two teeth!

Gracias, Grandma!

Vivi's Grandma Otto is an AMAZING seamstress, and Vivi loves to show off her talents!  Just yesterday, we received a package containing the following...

Sweet little Irish baby!

Who looks good in green?  Vivi O'Otto.

And this sweet little butterfly dress in the 9-12 months size (which fits heartbreakingly well--she's getting so big!).  Not to mention a stunning shot of my 8 AM hair.
Thank you, Grandma Otto!  We love them!

Reindeer about town...

So, if you follow the blog of Vivi's cousin Eva (lavidaevita.blogspot.com if you don't--it's hilarious), you know that Santa brought all of the cousins reindeer costumes, despite a snow storm in Iowa and Lincoln.  Thank you, Santa!

At any rate, Vivi apparently really enjoys being a reindeer.

An extra-suave reindeer (LOVE the antlers there, dahling).

A reindeer with multiple sets of antlers!

A reindeer with an attitude (and a mother who cannot figure out how to rotate a photo, but that's another story for another blog).

Jack-Dog rides again!

Before Vivi was born, Russ and I wanted to choose a special "snuggle buddy" for her to grow up with.  To our amazement, if your child does not want a cat, bear, bunny or duck, you seem to be screwed.  We are not cat/bear/bunny/duck people (apologies, Jilly Rabbit--you're lovely).  Thankfully, after much searching, we found Jack-Dog.  He rode with us to the hospital, and was one of the first "home things" Vivi saw.

However, newborns do not really PLAY with toys, so Jack-Dog has been chillaxin' in Vivi's room, patiently waiting for the day when he would win her heart.

Today, Vivi hung out and played with Jack-Dog for a solid hour while Russ and I put away laundry and did some work in her room.

I sense the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

All new things

So, this is a very interesting time for Vivi.  She is learning and doing so much these days.  This past weekend, under the watchful eye of Grandma and Grandpa Otto, we gave her her very own cup.  She has been obsessed with cups since before Christmas, and GrandMary has been kindly letting her drink from a cup at her house (this is a VERY messy process).  But we figured it was time of her to have one of her own.

At times, it seemed to freak her out a little bit.

But overall, the cup was conquered.  On to the next!

God will get me for this.

So, every morning, before work, Vivi and I have a battle.  She HATES her pink fleecy thing that keeps her warm in the car.  Russ and I used to benignly refer to it as "the Lambie" until her Uncle Paul clued us in to it's true nature...THE IMMOBILIZER.

She rants at me as I work her into it, trying to make it out the door in a timely manner.

It is not very fun for either of us.

But then, I look down and see something like this...and I have to giggle a little.

Mom wins.

Big People Food!

...or at least an approximation thereof.  Tonight, Vivi ate real food for the first time.  We were wary, as everyone told us that most kids do not care for cereal, and spit it back out, yada yada yada.  Basically, we were warned not to expect success.

Right.  So, that is a lie. Our kid has, apparently, been DYING for rice cereal.  Who knew?

I'm pretty sure she managed to actually consume a fair amount, although quite a bit did wind up on the bib..and the highchair.. and me...

Still.  Success!

Right.

Soo...I tried this earlier, while hanging out with Viv (Russ was grocery shopping).  She clearly has been watching too much E! News and is fearful of the paparazzi storm bound to hit once her life is made public, because she screamed like a banshee every time I came near the keyboard.  So.  She is now asleep.

And I will leave you with this lovely photo of Vivi playing with her feet, as my video REFUSED TO POST.  Sigh.

Trial and Error

Howdy!

Well, here it is, the inagurial post to Vivi's blog. Done a) without Vivi and b) without photos as I am c) at work. Shhhh!
